1 Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.
2 "Are you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate.
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
3 The chief priests accused him of many things. 4So again Pilate asked him, "Aren't you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of."
5 But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.
6 Now it was the custom at the Feast to release a prisoner whom the people requested. 7A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising. 8The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.

1 Vừa lúc ban mai, các thầy tế lễ cả bàn luận với các trưởng lão, các thầy thông giáo cùng cả tòa công luận; khi đã trói Đức Chúa Jêsus rồi, thì giải nộp cho Phi-lát.
15:2 Phi-lát hỏi Ngài rằng: Ấy chính ngươi là Vua dân Giu-đa phải không? Đức Chúa Jêsus đáp rằng: Thật như lời.
15:3 Các thầy tế lễ cả cáo Ngài nhiều điều. 15:4 Phi-lát lại tra gạn Ngài, mà rằng: Ngươi chẳng đối đáp chi hết sao? Hãy coi họ cáo tội ngươi biết bao nhiêu!
15:5 Nhưng Đức Chúa Jêsus chẳng trả lời chi nữa, nên nỗi Phi-lát lấy làm lạ.
15:6 Vả, hễ đến ngày lễ Vượt Qua, quan vốn quen thói tha cho dân một tên tù, tùy theo dân xin. 15:7 Bấy giờ có một đứa tên là Ba-ra-ba bị tù với kẻ làm loạn, vì trong khi nổi loạn, chúng nó phạm tội giết người. 15:8 Đoàn dân đã lên, bèn xin Phi-lát làm cho mình theo như lệ thường.
